About The Course
The primary objective of the program is to equip individuals with the essential knowledge, skills, and perspectives to help them excel in the field of industrial safety within large or medium-scale industrial establishments. Through comprehensive training, the program aims to develop a thorough understanding of safety principles, practical skills for hazard identification and risk assessment, and expertise in regulatory compliance. Additionally, it emphasizes the promotion of a safety culture, effective communication, and leadership abilities to foster proactive safety management within organizations. Ultimately, the program seeks to empower graduates to contribute effectively to industrial safety functions, ensuring the well-being of workers and the sustainable operation of industrial facilities.
Learning Objectives
- To develop a comprehensive understanding of industrial safety principles, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures.
- To familiarize students with relevant regulations, standards, and legal requirements pertaining to industrial safety, ensuring compliance and adherence to good practices.
- To equip students with the skills needed to assess and manage risks effectively, minimizing the likelihood of accidents and untoward incidents in the workplace.
- To instill a culture of safety awareness and responsibility among students, emphasizing the importance of proactive safety measures and continuous improvement.
- To provide hands-on training and practical exercises to develop students’ skills in implementing safety protocols, conducting safety audits, and responding to emergencies.
- To enhance students’ communication skills, enabling them to effectively convey safety information and concerns to stakeholders at all levels. Additionally, to cultivate leadership qualities necessary for leading safety initiatives and promoting a culture of safety within organizations.

Methodology
The Course will be conducted through class room sessions, lectures, discussions, case studies, industrial visits, etc. The students are required to carry out one project work and term work and two laboratory works during the course of the programme, as a requirement under the syllabus.
Entry Qualification
- A recognized Degree in any branch of Engineering or Technology, preferably from an Institute under UGC recognized University securing a minimum aggregate of 55 % of marks.
- A recognized Degree in Science having subjects Physics and Chemistry preferably from an Institute under UGC recognized University securing a minimum aggregate of 55 % of marks.
- A recognized Diploma in any branch of Engineering or Technology recognized by SCTE&VT, Odisha securing a minimum aggregate of 55 % of marks.

Upon completing the Post-Diploma in Industrial Safety, graduates or successful participants can embark on diverse career paths such as:
- Safety Officer/Manager: Graduates or successful participants can pursue roles as safety officers or managers within industrial establishments. They would be responsible for implementing and overseeing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Health and Safety Consultant: Graduates or successful participants may opt to work as consultants, providing expertise to organizations in developing and implementing safety management systems, conducting audits, and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Environmental Health and Safety Specialist: Graduates or successful participants can specialize in environmental health and safety, focusing on areas such as emergency response coordination, compliance, or training. They would be responsible for risk mitigation, emergency preparedness, and employee safety.
- Emergency Response Coordinator: Graduates or successful participants can specialize in emergency response coordination, developing and implementing emergency preparedness plans, conducting drills, and coordinating responses to workplace incidents or disasters.

They would ensure that individuals are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to work safely.
- Government Inspector: Some graduates or successful participants may choose to work as factory inspectors, enforcing safety regulations, conducting inspections, and investigating workplace incidents.
